renovating with kids is...slow

I thought it was worth having a post about remodeling with an energetic 2 year old (and his baby sister). It is...slow going. A trip to our local home improvement store, Menard's, means stopping at their playground equipment for at least 30 minutes to play. And with family 18 hours away- we are on our own with projects and juggling childcare. We love it though, it just takes a flexible attitude and extra planning...

Flooring

Back to Daltile's keystone blends we go. We originally liked this because we have this pattern by our front door. We move on because we never got a sample of the actual pattern (they just sent a 1x1 square on a presentation board), but an email from them this week has me looking again. Daltile just announced a new tile called Colour Scheme with 60% post consumer content, made in the USA, and can be combined keystone blends. I added a photo of our entryway to compare.

House update

Last weekend Lee cleared out the bathroom floor for whatever is next. We also went to several home improvement stores hoping to agree on something. He wants easy installation or cheap (so we can pay someone to do it), and I want eco-friendly (don't want our floors off-gassing chemicals around the kids!) and true to a mid-century look.

I'll throw a shot of the current floor status and also the adjoining hallway we want to do at the same time. Our kitchen is on the right and uses the same vinyl, so we want the new flooring to compliment but its not in our budget to do the kitchen yet unless we find something for cheap.
