christmas appliance!

We have a new dryer!! Thank you to Lee's parents for the sweet Christmas present. I am amazed that the ancient Kenmore lasted 2 years for us (plus 20 or 30 years beyond that)...

a little mid-century inspiration

Photo from a 1952 house for sale in Indianapolis. Pretty vintage. We like the eat-in kitchen (we would need to take out a wall in our kitchen) to make the adjacent banquette table. See here for modern banquette tables we love.

when a good design makes more sense

Quick follow up to my previous post, I'll wait on blending the two blogs. But do expect a few posts like this about kids products...

B. recently started a new 1x a week program that requires a backpack. I first went to Target and found the typical "Cars" bag for $15. Now I am not completely opposed to licensed products. We have our share of t-shirts, but when it comes to a product that will be used for multiple seasons by more than 1 child, that gives me pause.

Enter Skip Hop Zoo Packs. Love the design. Price tag is comparable ($18 and change on amazon or $20 in stores) and designs are timeless. I found a store in town that carried the bag and bought this one. And it will definitely get passed down to his sister. Best of all he loves his new backpack/carrier of all things toys...

time for a plow

3 more pictures of Sunday (and I'll move on, I promise!). We had 2 (great) neighbors clear our sidewalks with snow blowers. Our major sidewalks are clear, but the sidewalk connecting the front to the side door is not and I've tromped in the knee-high snow one too many times this week...

Snowstorm

This is our fourth winter in Minnesota and Saturday was the biggest storm (ie blizzard) we've seen. Thankfully we had no place to go Saturday and watched the storm from our windows. Sunday greeted us with sunshine and negative temps. And in true Minnesotan style, the roads were cleared Sunday morning...
